Wicked!!! Glad to see something like this from a producer of Don Corleon's caliber. The track he is dubbing is FAT!
Come on JA music makers, give us some more original flavor!

Yeah, saw this over at DHR. Cool initiative! Very curious how his dubs of Drop Leaf, Seasons, Major etc. will sound. Can't place the riddim dubbed in the video, but sounds like he's proofing the bass is there! haha

Highly rate many of his productions, soft as they may be, so very curious on what this dub experience will bring. So far so good I'd say (no exceptional dubbing or so, but in these times JA dubbing is pretty unique to begin with).

Nice one. Is that Protoje sitting next to DC at the desk?

I believe that is Protoje. Good to see some dub coming out of JA. Always rated Don Corleons productions. Would love to have an lp of dubs from him.

Some other modern roots dubs I've really liked have come from the Lustre Kings camp....Lustre Kings in Dub Vol 1 and Midnite- Infinate Dub.

This video is nice and all.... but what DC releases is all sh*t in my book. Pure money making music.

Nice skills. Too bad the massive can only get it on Youtube. Seriously, WTF?!

IMHO :D

It all goes back to taste. I certainly don't rate this tune. The 'music' doesn't sound like a band playing/backing, it sounds more like a sample on the chops. As fot the vocal... a bit all over the place.. good energy, but not very interesting, reminded me of Hip Hop/US.

I'm not dissing what DC's done or what he's doing, but he's a next generation producer really, coming from the hip hop school of sounds/production. Again, great to hear him promote JA Reggae and doing a dub thing, but the clip was a pretty lame/beginners attempt at a mix. Dougie and Russ and plenty other UK producers would put him to shame. Hope to hear that the albums sounding much more decent. Alborosie has set the most recent JA benchmark for making Dubs.

And lastly.... Drop Leaf was a phenomena, plenty good vocals on that riddim, but it aint no amazing riddim on its own, pretty thin production... the guitar sounds woeful every time i hear it... but that is a Jamaican tradition of the past... having some dodgy playing/tuning put down on master tape. Hope he's investing the success from Drop Leaf and working hard in the studio.

..to be fair i listened to it on Laptop speakers... can only hear Baltimore samples and some other samples that just dont fit. The vocal isn't that bad, but too many stumbling lyrics. Not so much hip hop, but i do think DC is as much influenced by Hip hop as JA Reggae.

I was thoroughly disappointed by Alborosie's dub album. To me it sounded very mechanical and repetitive, a bit like sub-par Mad Prof stuff

My favorite dub mixman in JA has to be Bulby or even Bravo. But they dont dub often enough in my opinion. DC's dub sounds very pedestrian, but you gotta give him kudos for going in that direction. Hopefully he will get serious and who knows, he could become good.

If only something, anything, exciting came out of Jamaica these days...
