Norris Man beaten by Sizzla’s entourage

06-Aug-07 | by A.K.A., Contributing Writer

What a way Norris Man persistent! The man cause two riot at St. Mary Mi Come From when an army of bobos descended on him and beat him to a pulp after he told Sizzla to 'suck his madda' while both of them were onstage.

Norris Man had been waiting backstage while Sizzla was performing an extended set. Norris Man walked onstage and began to perform. He told Norris Man to behave himself and leave the stage, and then Norris Man blurted out what could have been his death warrant when he said 'suck yu madda'.

Sizzla simply said, 'what yu tell me 'bout mi madda' and suddenly, a small army of turban-wearing men began to beat Norris Man savagely. In the meantime, Sizzla continued to deejay as if nothing had happened.

The onstage altercation caused a melee at the front of the stage, as some rastafarians in the crowd began to jump onstage in an earnest attempt to beat Norris Man as well. Capleton was able to restore order with a long stream of expletives and the show resumed. However, later, Norris Man returned onstage and appealed to the people, 'see what dem do me' and this time, he was boxed and mauled, and dragged off the stage like a ragdoll by another set of angry rastafarians. The crowd was terrified by what they were witnessing and there were several mini-stampedes throughout the packed venue.

One man shouted in awe: "Ah suicide Norris Man waah commit, why him go up there again?'

I did not take time to read the whole artical because I have enuff drama in my own life to worry about what other people are causing themselfs.. However I did have to say I think its rather shameful of two individuals that try to come in the name of the Father yet display such crazyness.

Everyone has there problems and of course man is only human , However some people really should stop and think about what reaction there actions are causing, What type of message are they showing to the younger generation. This is clearly not exceptable behavior for both partys invovled.

I can not help but feel really bad for the Bobo shanti order, who comes with the most organized and centralized order of discipline! Yet have such hooligans coming in the name of.

Yet clearly no surprise there, As the saying goes "Nothing new under the sun". Have to kinda just laugh after them for there foolishness.

An aba shanti tune comes to mind

Yes I know this is really not the "place" to express such talk on a reggaeboard however it must be stated.

The writer seems to know a bit about the people from the crowd who joined in. Seems they are all Rastafarians. And then another group was beating Norris Man later on as well. Again, Rastafarians. :x

Yeah, that's always the question with reports like this. Something did happen, that's likely true, but what exactly remains hard to find out.

I did find that last quote quite funny: "One man shouted in awe: "Ah suicide Norris Man waah commit, why him go up there again?'"

Interesting question indeed.

It's getting to the point where the only difference between a fundamentalist Rasta and a fundamentalist Muslim is the color of their turban. What a bunch of scumbags.

(And if anyone is thinking about jumping on my political incorrectness... I could care less, so save it.)

Lets put this in perspective a bit, before everyone starts cussing out "Fundamentalist" Rastas and so on.
Above is a link to that little docu on You Tube showing True Rastas on Bobo Hill.
Sizzla wears a turban as do his crew, is that all it takes to make you a true Rasta ? I think not.
Lots of Reggae artists profess Rastafari, but they are far from living it truly.

Lets try and separate Reggae artists and performers from the true Bretheren and Sistren and also misunderstanding Bobo dreads as being Fundamentalist. They live a disciplined Rastafarian spiritual life, but insinuating that they are then fundamentalist is soooooooooooooooo wrong and shows a complete lack of knowledge of Rastafarian Beliefs.

Has anyone watched that Recent DVD of Sizzla "Art of war" with him voicing for various sounds. It is hysterical, and could be subtitled, "or How good rartsist go Bad"....laughable, and I laugh because I would cry. Sizzl, I don't know, he may be the humblest sweetest person by himself.
I am only making observations from seeing him hanging out round the sound men on here and other things you hear, so could be completely wrong, but he seems to have become totally lost in his pursuit to remain all things to all men, and listening and believing too much in what every little man is saying in his ear.
Even himself in the film he looks embarassed, when he tries to defend or explain why he voices gunman lyrics, like trying to be apologetic for it and explain why.
Seems in his head he can separate it as if one is a dancheall side, not for children etc..and one is a conscious side. Just ridiculous it is.

One hysterical bit he turns to the camera and in a message to children says "Stay in school, get your education, no crime, no violence.." Couple of clips later there he is with some ignorant sound going "if you diss MotherF*** my hand is on the trigger..etc etc..."

Lovely...

Not to mention the Japanese sound with the female selectors making slicing movements across their throat to some tune where he is advocating Battymen fi dead..

Oh What a wonderful world.

sounds crazy, but i think the guy who wrote that article is being a bit biast saying they where all rasta's, probably all fans wearing bobo turbans. Sizzla certainly doesn't do himself any favours by letting his fans beat norrisman up, i think he should have called them off.
But these on stage fights are getting very common at these dancehall concerts in JA, i wouldn't be surprised if they didn;t plan them before hand!! it creates alot of publicity for the artists.

Very true. Now that I've cooled out a little, let me expound on my previous statement. People who claim to love God and turn around and act like a bunch of judgemental, hateful, hypocrites are BY FAR the biggest button that sets me off.

When I spoke of fundamentalists, I wasn't trying to include ALL deeply spiritual and faithful people who try to follow a strict set of beliefs. I know there are a lot of "strict" Rastas and Bobo Dreads who are also good kind people. When I spoke of fundamentalists, I was referring to all the arrogant b*stards who are convinced they have the one and only truth, get caught up in all the B.S. dogma and rhetoric, and then view anyone who doesn't agree with their impossibly strict code with disdain and hatred. All the while, people like that NEVER practice the things they claim to preach.

I would wish harm upon people like that, but it's unnecessary- they have already made their own personal hell to live in- constantly fighting Satan and his demons, and feeling isolated from 95% of humanity. Not a nice way to live. I wonder how they fool themselves into thinking they ever truly feel God's love? I would like to feel sorry for them, but I guess my own faith isn't strong enough for that yet- they still p*ss me off too much!

Yes they did, Sis

To me German marches sounds exactly like Red/Sovjet Army marches from 1920s, 30s and 40s. :D
