Looks like a very solid set . . . the Born Free discomix is a minute longer than the one on the BAF set, I wonder whether it's a completely different mix. Wish they'd included the discomix of "King Of Israel," though, and left off short versions of easier-to-find tracks like "Folly Ranking."

Given Auralux's nice African Anthem Revisited reissue, I'd like to hear this one...

fish:

5. ‘King of Israel’ Hugh Mundell 3:32
6. ‘King Pablo’ Augustus Pablo 3:15

dont you think track 6 could be the dub version of track 5? and that would essentially constitute a "discomix"?

i dont know that but i would say its a good guess. maybe not though since i dont know either of these tracks.

one love

Saw that, Jah Bill, but the 12" mix (have a cassette tape copy, so I definately would appreciate a better-sounding reissue) doesn't have melodica on the dub portion. The tune is a nice update of "Queen Of The Minstrels," with an appropriate change of lyrics - if you've got the Mundell/Lacksley Castell "Jah Fire" album, the vocal is on there. There are also 12" versions of "Jah Fire" and "Walk With Jah," both of which I prefer to "King of Israel," but I suppose I'm not the one compiling it . . .
What about the half that's never been told?

Jah Fire Will Be Burning / King Of Israel

Postby Dagga DJ » Thu Dec 02, 2004 7:10 pm

Greetings Massive,

Wanted to put in my two sense. I just sold{heartbreaking!!} my 12" copy of the Hugh Mundell cut{s} on the J&F label. Both sides are extended booms, produced by Jammy and Fatman{believe this is Mundell's first cut after his works with Pablo!}:

A = "Jah Fire Will Be Burning"
B = "King Of Israel"

In any case, I can bust out my cd-r of the cuts anytime...ain't technology great!! :o)

Bless-Dagga

I assumed this meant in a week or so after the UK release, not in a week from now. Could be wrong.

Sounds like an excellent complement to the Pressure Sounds "The Crowning Of Prince Jammy" set... especially as the title track of that is a dub of Junior Reid's "Jailhouse" which in Pressure Sounds' odd fashion they didn't include the vocal of...

(they did the same thing with Coco Tea's "Repatriation" on the Xterminator compilation they put out... any idea why they do that?)

I take it "Born Free" is an extended version of the same "Born Free" on the B&F Yabby You 2CD set (and incidentally, what connection does that tune have to Yabby You? that was something i never quite worked out...)

looks worth getting, anyway... when is Auralux going to have a website? Might have to get this one thru something like Amazon...

I always thought 'Lend Me Your Chopper' - Johnny Osbourne was Channel One / Hitbound. Did he re-do this one for King Jammy? (see track 1)

'Born Free' / Michael Rose is on a Yabby U rhythm (can't remember the original title).

'Rock Vibration' - was the Yabby U & King Tubby dub track on the same rhythm as 'Born Free'
