Burning Spear - Creation Rebel: 2LP version question

Postby Pluto » Sat Dec 18, 2004 5:34 pm

A question for those who have bought the double-LP edition of "Creation Rebel" from Heartbeat:

What's your opinion on the 2 bonus tracks?:

 He Prayed / Joe Frazier (Part 2) - Burning Spear and Dennis Alcapone (Single) 6:12
 Rocking Time / Pepper Rock - Burning Spear and Prince Jazzbo (Single) 5:58

I was thinking of getting the CD version (that nowadays I usually prefer over vinyl for its convenience). Would you say that the inclusion of these tracks makes the vinyl edition more worthwhile? They last for about 6 minutes each - does this mean that they repeat the vocal side and add the DJ version in the end?

Although I do agree on the fact that the CD is more 'convenient',
I think i prefer the vinyl; those extras are niiiiice. I already owned both the Studio One albums, so these 2 tracks are the main reason I got the collection. I think I like He Prayed, which consists of the vocal and dj version, with a teriffic trombone workout in the middle, best of the 2.

Thanks for your reply!
I think I still can't decide, though...

Copying our cds and writing about this in the public is really not nice.
and it's silly, btw.

hi jah bill, was a little joke .........

normally i think copying albums is ok as long as the stuff
isn't available on the market. this e.g. applies to private
compilations of 7s and 12s.

cheers

so do we all.. but i bet not one person here follows that 100% especially the cd buyers... (those people should also not buy second hand cds (which are available in shops at twice the price.. ))

i think we need a poll to see who hasnt copied anything /asked for anything which is available from the start of 2004 til now.

i cant think of anything at the moment but im sure i have.

Pluto - IMHO neither of the bonus DJ tracks are essential, so unless you have a strong preference for Vinyl I'd go for the CD. It's really outstanding and probably my favourite release of the year.

I finally ordered the CD, it was somewhat cheaper than the vinyl too...

I think it's shameful that Heartbeat made those tracks vinyl-only despite having plenty of room on the CD to fit them.
What about the half that's never been told?

i cant think of another release that has its bonus tracks on the vinyl.. isnt it always the cds that get the extras?

Another release with bonus tracks on vinyl is the "Spear Burning" compilation on Pressure Sounds with "Free The Whole Wide World (Extended Mix)" exclusively on the 2xLP edition.
