Do you play an instrument ?

Postby Dadi Digi » Wed Dec 22, 2004 4:02 pm

I was considering "trying" my hand out at bass guitar in the new year sometime. Is it necessary to have ordinary guitar knowledge/experience first or is that just an advantage ?. i.e, can you start out on bass from fresh ?

How many baffeers on here actually play an instrument and if you do what is it ?

Guitar (electric and acoustic), strictly self-taught so I basically suck at it, but still I play 'm every now and then.

From what I know it can sometimes be more of a hinderance to go from guitar to bass than to just start on bass- I took up the bass with no real previous knowledge of guitar beyond how to play about 4 chords without any problems. The only hard thing is having to work closely with drummers...

Oh yeah-
Flute (teaching diploma)
Piano (grade 8 )
Bass guitar
Enough guitar to play along to Crass songs...
various other wind and keyboard instruments.
My favorite- the computer :-)

I love playing the bass guitar, I can play acoustic or electric guitars without falling over and I can sometimes fake the piano.

Juts start with the bass man & don't let your vibe be contaminated by those puny little strings! :)

have you considered that you will have to buy a bass amp as well Dadi ?
also, playing bass with no drums ain't an awful lot of fun.
