Dirk Powell - Waterbound

I'm not even going to bother trying to express to you all what this tune now means to me.

Find it, and listen to it.

I think the 2 o3 three best tunes I ever heard were

The Danger : Bim Sherman ( ONU Version )

Ever Firm : Bim

and "Joyful Noise" : Congo Ashanti Roy

and the rest of you? Go on, do the impossible! Reduce your entire collection to you 2/3 fave tracks.

If I could boil it down, my favourite tracks would be something by the Heptones or The Gaylads or Carlton and the Shoes or Ken Boothe or The Wailers or Delroy Wilson or Slim Smith or Alton Ellis. They would all be Studio One.

But they'd have tough competition with tracks from The Impressions, Irma Thomas, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howling Wolf, Fats Domino, James Carr, Bobby Bland...

They'd all be from the 60s, that's for sure.

In the end, for me, it's all about voice, harmony and rhythm.

Since Gordys already gone for "Dog War" I'll have to go for "Never Grow Old"- Maytals
"Have You Ever"-D.Brown
"Jam It Up"-Carlton Livingston
"Rock On"- Gregory Isaacs
I'd better stop now
