I've got the randy valentine 7" carnival with the horns cut on the flip and have heard a few tunes off the album at some pre listening party's and it's going to be very good. There is an absolute killer of a tune called dubwise that I can't wait to play on the sound.

Jake said he had finished mixing and it was off for final masters last week some point so I would expect it be released on schedule.

2xLP = 20 €

Judging by the tracklist/info/previous clips/line up involved, it seems that this record took "some" time & money to be produced.

Now someone explain me please: why many new 7"s (without cover) have prices around 10 €?

because those 7 inches have small runs, the smaller the amount of records pressed the more it cost... Pressing 300 records is a lot more expensive than let's say for example 1000... (and people either have no money to press 1000 or there is not enough demand for that amount) This works the same with printing books.

Also location. Overhead costs are a lot more expensive in let's say London, compared to pressing something in Czech republic.

I just ordered the LP. I had tried to order the 7" directly from the label's website, as I couldn't find it anywhere else. But for some reason the order would never go through. I wrote to them, but no response. I'm sure it will appear on Discogs some day. In any case, looking forward to hearing this unique project in its entirety.

I have some experience pressing records and what you say doesn't match with reality IMHO. You can press 500 10"s for around 2-3 euros each copy (just pressing) You have to add production, musicians, studio time, etc...When you do a repress, it should be cheaper even.

Why a 7" repress (without covers) is 12 € and this 2xLP with covers is 20 € ??

Some tracks ae very good - others aren' that far behind but when some very talented Cuban singers tend to overdo it with a little too much lyrical vibe, it can go psccchhhhh...
Can be the same in Brazilan music too.
One of the first tunes released last spring had the potential to become a mainstream international hit, but didn't. People more busy with Rihanna, Coldplay and Major Lazer, maybe?
As for the price of the record, that's a pretty common thing with Baco Records, owned by Danakil, probably the most popular reggae act for french kids right now. Their music probably won't get many older reggae buffs raving but they share certain ethics. Pricing records is one.
As an exception, i am a big fan of one of the bands whose music they release.

On the record release field it's even "easier' for them as the financial rewards they get are mainly through live performances. They also cooperate to launch other upcoming artists they like (mainly french ones) and this Australian project must be one of the very first foreign ones they got involved in.
To put it simply, the 7"s were released by the Australian producer himself,(who probably wanted to recoup his costs for pressing),whereas this album is released by Baco Rds, who certainly have far better deals when it comes to pressing, given the amount of other releases they press.

I gave it a listen on Friday via Apple Music and enjoyed some of the tracks a lot.
I'm trying to learn to speak Spanish this year so I can work on the lyrics as well! Demasiado rápido para mi on a first listen though.

Stand out tunes for me are 100 pounds of Collie which is superbly produced and arranged but my favourite lyrically is Dubwise from France Nooks, that is a seriously well put together set of lyrics that I cant wait to bust on the sound.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they also put out Protoge's albums in France

You're most definitely right ! And it certainly did boost his profile in france, where he must be one of the very few 2010's talents touring extensively now - besides Jah9 and some of the self-contained groups. Besides, it is relatively easy to find his most recent album in chain stores all around the country.
Maybe it will be also a plus for HMK, who knows? That Baco connection seems really valuable when it comes to connecting with the youths...

Great interview with Mista Savona, where he talks about the project.
