Dan I - I couldn't see what was is quite so bad about the dub to that tune, sounded okay to me on a listen, am I missing something? Not outstanding, but not horrible - though it's all a matter of taste I know.

Apostle - when B&F was reissuing regularly threads either guessing at the next release or suggesting the new release were very common and very enjoyable - occasionally Steve would drop a hint to further fuel the excitement. Wondering what was coming next almost immediately having listened to the last release a couple of times was a part of life then! :D

Nice one! I have the repress from around 10 years ago. I prefer Roman's original tunes, but that's a nice cover version.

I actually went to the trouble of mocking up a Roman Stewart singles collection, complete with nice design and some sleeve notes, and sent it to Pressure Sounds with a note saying "what do you think, Pete?" Don't think this collection will happen any time soon - or ever - due to all of the producers Roman worked with; I'm sure figuring out copyrights and licensing would be very difficult. However, I have enough in my collection for a 2 volume set of singles, and then a 3rd set of 12" singles. 8)

Mark T, I didn't really mean it was horrible, more the big disappointment you get when you get a flat and fairly dull dub to a cracking tune.

Er, no Congo I'm not being sarcastic at all - just describing things as they were, and hopefully, as they may be again.

Dan I, agreed, the dub is a bit pedestrian or maybe straightforward would be the best description.

Come on Mick, start your own label with some Roman Stewart comps…

Can Blood and fire release or find some unreleased Early songs before the digital era took hold by artists Nitty Gritty and Tenor saw. Anyone know which producers have Nitty Gritty or Tenorsaw which is still hidden and unreleased?

I have seriously given this some consideration. 8) Not to make any money, just to get Roman's music out there. I spoke with Tinga Stewart about the possibility of doing this, but of course just because he's Roman's brother doesn't mean he holds the copyrights.

is there enough material from the Maytones to put together a 12-14 track compilation of rare (previously unreleased on CD or even LP) 1975-79 songs?
