Stinejac label info?

Postby Capt » Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:48 am

Any more info on the (Canadian?) Stinejac imprint?

See they released few Jackie Mittoo tunes, and some Willie Williams records..

Was one of dem behind the label maybe, what more did they release??

Thanks

I'd be interested in seeing a discography. I only have:

Jackie Mittoo - Armagideon/Mash Down Babylon - Stine Jac 7" (1979) Produced by M. Stow/T. Stines
Willie Williams - Come Along/Jackie Mittoo - Repatriation Song - Stine Jac 10" (1982)
Wille Williams w/Cousin Marshall - Rocking Universally (Alt. Mix)/Jackie Mittoo/Bongo Gene - Basic Replay 12"

Would the Basic Channel 12" of Jackie Mittoo - Ayatollah/Mash Down Babylon 12" also have been a Stine Jac release/recording? on the label originally?

Re: Noel Ellis, the Basic Replay 12" label lists/names him as "Cousin Marshall The Son Of Alton Ellis" :) . Bit of a mouthful when introducing yourself, Noel Ellis much :D better.

Yes, Stine-Jac was a Canadian label. One of a few small record labels that Willi Williams and Jackie Mittoo were involved with while they were living in Canada. Discogs has what looks like a complete discography:

The label was a collaboration between Jackie Mittoo (the "Jac" part) and an financier whose name I am drawing a blank on right now, but will think of later. But the "musical" side of it was pure Jackie.

I remember buying the original stine jac rocking universally 12" back in whenever it was, probably like 85? loved it from the very first lick and used to run it all the time on the radio.

one love

Ok, thanks guys!
Just felt that either Mittoo or Williams was behind the label..

Was that Willie Williams-Come Along originally pressed on 10inch in 1982, or did the seveninch come first?

That Ayatollah by Mittoo came on US Nefertit label i believe, never seen it on Stinejac..

The 10" came out first, it was released at a time when that format was popular.....quite a few 10" releases on Studio One, Channel One and other labels were making the rounds.
The 7" is a later pressing.
