I’d busss out my crate of raas claaat Shakin Stevens dubplates………drop a couple of Shirley Bassey / Tom Jones combo’s……..then bring out Anthony Hopkins to deliver a war speech on how I’m gonna kill a soundboy and munch him up with some fava beans and a nice Cianti………..final blow would be a the sacred Charlotte Church acetate…….on the Sleng Teng……featuring Katherine Jenkins….

WAR - Why Can't We Be Friends and when I've won their trust I'd play the real warrior chune dem. Upon doing that I'm sure they'll make their best rendition of Papa San - Maddy Maddy Cry. ;)

Cocoa Tea Tune in and 18 and over
Sizzla- solid as a rock
Beres Hammond - Step Aside.
Daddy Tar-Ziggzaya
Cutty Ranks- Limb by Limb
Freddie McGregor- Leave yah
Luciano- one away ticket
Garnet Silk- Keep them talking
Errol Dunkley- Little Way different
Tony Rebel- Jah by my side

Obviously a lot of these aren't typical soundboy selections but I reckon they'd drop nice in the heat of the battle!

so many to choose from but this would on the list of tunes Im willing to let people know I have - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFpcLf692rc

I have to say that I feel walking into a clash with a bag of anything but steel is a poor show. If something has been billed as a clash I think you should carry clash plates. I also feel this is a totally separate thing to a roots and culture session spreading the message which can include more than one sound, most sessions with 2 or more sounds are definitely not clashes, and I think that a sound can do both. I think that a healthy level of competition between friends leads to advancement of the sound systems as everyone wants to build the best in order to outdo the next man, without this force soundmen can be happy to rest on their laurels content with their system when it could be bettered. Soundclash forces people to invest in new tunes and better their systems as you dont want to reach a clash and hear the same tunes you heard last week, you want something new and it should be special. I also think that playing loads of clashes causes them to stop being special and its gets dull hearing the same plates at every clash. Ive lost count of how many times Ive heard the same 30 or so specials in 1 fi 1 at big clashes.

If your interested in hearing me run my sound in a clash style dance check out this session on talawa. The most clashy stuff is in part 6 - http://www.talawa.fr/media/1st-time-ever-2-sounds-in-australiaheart-4OHpZ

Also here is a video of a friendly clash we did last year - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_OxW6s8ISY

From general released tunes I would say these would definitely be in the bag

For pure heavyweight bass line pressure this remix/dub of Clash of the Titans by Ishan Sound - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhU4jtcqyQ8

Tough Sipacup Sandeeno's Dust another Sound - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOTKkso_XOg

King Kong - Mi ave a likkle Sound - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVXlNvZBGPk

Rough piece of digital Super Beagle - When a sound come test - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alY7xDgZNM8

Screechy cross the boarder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvh-7U5kfGs

More modern riddim tuffa & little kirk - kill them out version of weed them out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISxNII_bD8k

One of my favourite cuts of tempo Dixie peach - slaughter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz4Nc4_RICw

but there are many many many more

Slaughter is an original rhythm and came out before Tempo.

Interesting selections. A good tune is a good tune… can't fail.

KingSimeonSound: First time I hear this. What makes you think it pre-dates Tempo? Both rhythm and lyrics sound as directly influenced by the Red Rose's Tempo.
