Ah just heard it over the radio man sad news , the man with the falsetto voice never forget them tune bad-man possie , cool out son (true klassik) police/thieves, bad weed working wid Scratch,Joe Gibbs, Mikey Dread and many more.

Murvin music will live on and will transcend time....RIP..
With all this negativity that is now talking place around us both here and abroad ...mankind has now developed a tottaly lack of respect both for himself and his fellowman. The time is now nigh for one to take a closer look within himself...

Sorry to hear this, every JM album I have heard is excellent, always thought he was quite an underrated talent who never quite got the acclaim he deserved. R.I.P.

In 2004 his voice was still sounding like it did in 1976: www.youtube.com/watch?v=19dP84Q4Qus R.I.P.

Yes JR Murvin had that instantly recognizable voice.
That's a good video, the band sounds great,
The guitarist in particular is marvelous.
that tv show probably had the best sound ever for live reggae.

A unique singer. I remember watching him in action in Hackney, must have been early 2000s. I've never seen anyone hold the mic so far away from their mouth. Always loved cool out son, but police and thieves in particular will play for ever more.

I never realised until reading the obituary that his was the original of solomon.

Make It & Set It.....produced and sung by Junior Mervin for King Tubby's Tauru's label. One of the last tunes to come out of that studio and what a killer!!
