Maybe in the tunes, and maybe its just me being me, but theres not much integrity in the London scene I play gigs and people seem to get bored, or simply not support. I cant understand it, I try my best to be cool to people, and be nice, and represent solid tuff tunes when I play, but I just continually get vexed over the treatment I receive from venues, promoters and even certain heads in the scene, without naming names you know who you are - wheres the love? And what have I done to you to annoy you? I know I'm not the most socialable person but I'm proper depressed over the scene in London and politics and b u ll s h it I seem to encounter in certain dances and to be honest I'm over it.

I cant wait to finish my little mini sound so I can just bypass all this bollocks and just wheel it out and play in parks, house parties and skateparks without all the politik madness.

Forward to all the true rootsmen and women out there you know who you are and all the snakes are gonna fade away as Junior sung once.

I look forward to coming to Reading / Oxford someday to check your sessions with Robb, safe. :D

Jah Echo, I hear what u are saying. One of the many reasons I left London 15 years ago. You never get away from backbiting and vampiyahs, but things are different outside the capital. Not always well supported here either, but that seems to be a UK thing.

Integrity and fullness is always there in reggae music, maybe not in some sounds/promoters/etc, but for us the job as I see it is to find that fullness and relay it to others. Message before everything else.

Loving the idea of these small sounds like the ones Dan is building. Great stuff and a cool way to refocus music out of commercial venues where reggae never really feels right anyway. See you in Reading on December 7th? Session at the Butler with Jah Lion Movement, Regal Echo Sound System and Field Frequency.

Glad to hear its not just me feeling this. THis 'outburst' of mine was in no way aimed at Culture Promotions btw but at the things backed up by you two. Dani, my cash is tight but when I do get enough to get out there I will check you. Forward to all true rootsman / women!

I've nothing against comercialism either, otherwise how could my favorite sound systems be my favorite sound systems?

I know London has the potential to hold great nights also, its just a shame that, like the punk scene I was involved with before, the backbiters and vampires seem to find it easier to make musical headway. I guess this is true in London for a lot of things, not just music.

I can't figure out and have never been able to to be honest..what the "mesaage " is that people constantly refer to...

if people want to find love and understanding then they should look around them...it is everywhere there are people living heroic lives a few doors down from you...don't look for heroes in the music business..for it is a business just like any other and you might just find your heroes selling all kinds of products to make money and then you'll have to start making excuses for them..

won't you

Thanks Steve, good advice. I made the initial naive mistake of doing my music for a hobby / fun, in probably the most commercial environment I could have chosen. No wonder people want to book others as I've no interest in making anyone any money or making money myself. I've got a day job (its s h i t) to pay my rent. Then again if someone offers me a grand to play a night I would never say no, lol. Best reason to phone in sick yet, I reckon.
