YOUR FAVORITE KILLER DISCOMIX BREAK!!!!

Postby Baba Jonah » Thu Nov 14, 2013 11:42 am

For me, I love the transition in Noel Phillips Youthman, the gap, the drums, the mix!

Also, Tribesman The Tribe has a killer break too, the delay crash cymbal does it every time on a sound - sounded great coming out of King Simeons stack at Mass last year. . .

Nice question, impressive anorak level as well

There are few pleasures in life like the succesfull discomix transition.

One that immediately comes to mind is 'Rumours of War' by Tony Tuff & Jah Stitch.

+1 for Rumours of War. Deep bass break, love it.
Probably in my top 10 of favourite 12 inches.

Lol my works so boring I'll ask anything, even at the expense of being labelled an anorak. I'll wear that coat with pride.

Noahs Ark-Eek A Mouse 12"
love the false start and test tone (if I remember rightly).

My copy has a real click right on the transition :(

Winston Watson - Dispensation/Dillinger - Lion Rock

Love the moment when Dillinger kicks in...
Many discomixes with DJ parts tend to have a nice effect when the DJ coming in

I agree with skunkride on the DJ part effect. Colour Barrier by Leroy Brown & Clint Eastwood springs to my mind. As for dub, I always love the mix on Youthman In The Ghetto by Prince Alla. Musical genius by Scientist.

I've always loved the Jacob Miller - Keep On Knocking 12" when it comes to this.

A great tune churning away and then a little hint of some mix, and the restart with the test tone, cutting through announcing the dub.. and it's a subtle sonic treat to start the dub mix with plenty of teasing drop outs and echo.
