Greetings all, i've been browsing for a while and have registered so I can add my ten penneth to this thread.

Pablo, more than any other artist, was the one who got me into reggae more than 25 years ago, when someone did me a tape of King Tubby's meets... In a world where genius is bandied about far too freely, Pablo was the real deal. His music, whether his own dub productions or his work with others, has a timeless quality and in my opinion equals anything that has ever come out of Jamaica. His variety is staggering, few artists managed to make the transition from 70s roots to digital, certainly not with the results Pablo managed. I recently picked up a copy of Pressure Sounds' Message Music compilation, almost reluctantly as I am not generally a fan of digital rhythms, and my eyes were opened to what could be achieved by a true master craftsman.

So, to answer the original question - how many Augustus Pablo records do you need? All of them of course but particularly his 70s/early 80s dub work and his classic Mundell and Tetrack productions.

I doubt we will ever see his like again in music, let alone reggae.

I think those Rockers Only Roots releases just added another 4 Pablo records that everyone 'needs'!
Looking forward to getting those pieces of vinyl.

Yes indeed Mark, the word really is NEED if you don't have these tunes already.

Am interested to know what else they may be planning on the 7" line.

Simon, as Charasi-i says you check Dun Vendor - depending on where you are. If in the States Ernie B if in Europe may be go direct to the Only Roots site. If you look in the new release section there's a post about them. There are actually 6 x 12" and 4 x 7" in total from Only Roots. We can only hope the trend continues!
