Tempo Riddim Confession

Postby StepDubStep » Wed Oct 23, 2013 5:41 am

Even the baddest mixes bore me to death. Can't be bothered to check any more clips. Like Kryptonite for my ears. :?

Any riddim that gets overdone is tiring I think. I think Tempo is a great tune, but heard it to death. That makes me avoiding recuts or maybe pick the best or top two or three of some riddims.

If I had to pick one cut of Tempo, this would be it (and yeah, I never grow tired of this cut):

(Garnett live in combo with Capleton on Killamanjaro)

Great vocals plus I always think Startrail made the definate cut of Tempo.

I could never get enough of it I think. Tempo is my all time favourite riddim.

probably versioned too many times but, hey, that's a classic, still.
Wonder why certain lackluster early digi cuts are now repressed, though.
I was incidentally listening to the Star Trail version from around 1994 and still enjoy most of the songs very much.

For those who are more into digital reggae, my favourite cut on the Jammys version, by Nitty Gritty:

I must admit, the Star Trail run is killer. Mainly because of the vocals. Anthony B & Capleton are great on that one.

I thought that this was great timing - I've just released a remake of the Tempo riddim with Jahfa Culture on vocals. Hopefully it sounds a bit different to the original :)

Here's the link to check it out

yes Massive B successfully killed the vibes.
last version I did enjoy was startrail indeed.
also didn't like the flash cut even the vocals where good, the gloomy feel of it killed the vibes

This one kicked ass when released and can still rock a dance if played at the right moment -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4-bJ9YUzK0
