Without any hesitation:
Carlton & The Shoes: Love Me Forever.
I'd certainly add some by Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis (a master!) and Slim Smith.
In a more modern style, Peter Hunnigale and Lloyd Brown certainly have written deep insightful love songs.
On a more mainstream level, i have always enjoyed Waiting in Vain.

As for Woman is Like a Shadow, i wouldn't really classify it as a love song, quite the contrary, indeed.

"Night Nurse" is about coke so I wouldn't classify it as a love song

The contrary? It's definitely not a hate song to me :D

There are so many incredible songs. If I only focus on happy/positive love songs (no heartbroken lyrics)

Image
Ijahman - Closer To You (Jahmani 12") is perhaps the reggae love song I keep closest at heart (it took me some time to realise it was quite a tough steppers rhythm). I remember listening to this one non stop on the LP and someone over at Roots-Archives told me it was available on 12". Went to a local record store less than a week later and found it for £4! One of my happiest buys evr.

Carlton & the Shoes - Forever & Always (Yvonne's 12")

Image
Fil Callender - Baby My Love (Cactus 12")

Image
Danny Ray - Let Me Love You Tonight

Image
Keith Douglas - Come Over (Natty Congo 12") -- Perhaps more raw sex than love. »Baby come over and you'll discover what makes my love so satisfying.«

Jean Adebambo - Paradise (Santic 12") -- When Jean passed away I was listening to this one non-stop for days. Still makes me so very sad even though the song really is a wonderful tribute to someone she loves. Rest in peace, Jean. Some of the finest lovers rock ever released.

Meditations - Stranger In Love (Tamoki Wambesi 12") -- Even though I get some pedo vibes from the Meditations checking out a school girl.

Never said it was a hate song, more like a cautionary song which is rather "unromantic"! (and quite sexist, in a way! but let's not be too politically correct, this is reggae music, after all).

Lacksley Castell - Speak softly
Don Carlos - At the bus stop aka Oh girl
Don Carlos - Young girl

Also gotta be a few from Bim Sherman. Dont remember lyrics on top of my head but I suppose "Love forever" and "My Woman" would classify as love songs.
