jps (is that John Player Special?) any idea who that dj is on I'll Have To get You? I just got that 12" from the Ital Dokta and the dj is uncredited. Possibly Trinity without some of his trademark sounds.

One of the maddest Tony Tuff tunes is "Next Door Neighbor" on the Prodigy label 7".
Late 70's steppers. Great lyrics about a neighbour complaining about his music:

"my neighbor next door he can't go to bed, the sound of my music clap him in him head,
he comes to my door, start to complain but I play my music again and again and again.
Leave my rockers alone!"

He DJ's the flipside in fine style too!

tuff tune! thanks for posting!

Bought this one not too long ago and been playing it ever since. It's a great disco! Have grown so tired of most things digital but this one is still so damn enjoyable.

The lyrics are pretty funny on the man Next Door :)
"Have grown so tired of most things digital" quite right too Kalcidis!
But who's the uncredited dj on I'll Have To Get You?

Hi Mark. No,it isn't short for John Player Special, however I do remember as a little kid that my older brother had a model of the JPS formula 1 car that I used to play with all the time.

I too was thinking that it was Trinity, but not positive. I did find this listing that does credit it to Trinity. Also shows it was blue vinyl.

I've seen a few different looking labels for this record as well as how the tracks are listed. The copy I have has green writing with I'll Have to Get You on the A side which goes straight into the DJ piece and Side B is called Pt 2 Dub. I've also seen a red labeled copy which lists the B side as Give Me Good Loving which should be the title of the DJ piece. I linked that below. Which copy do you have Mark? I'm wondering how different they are. There is also a 7" which I haven't heard.

I have a white label with red writing - it's the Hit label with the baseball player. I take it as a Ja pressing by the look. It's Dub part 2 on the B side which is pretty standard on GG's releases. It certainly has a Trinity type sound to it.
I recently got a great copy of the Border as well which is a very nice GG disco mix.

JPS black and gold looked well cool.... I did use to buy them back in the day as well.

I've been enjoying the records I have picked up. My impression is that he doesn't always have a lot to say but he does say it well! Which is probably true of most reggae. I want to pick up Pass The Ball which sounds good off YouTube.
