I thought that Coxsone special was on a dubbed up version of Geregory Isaacs - If You See My Mary. Sounds like different cuts on same riddim or very similar

Yeah. Very similar rhythms if not the same. I'm also under the impression they're the same. What rhythms are there on that one? I only know of these:

Junior Reid- Sinsemilla
Prince Alla - Devil Woman
Sammy Dread - Rub-A-Dub
Gregory Isaacs - If You See My Mary
Echo Minott - Give Me Your Love
Tony Junior (?) - Dancing Feet

Are they all off centre? Bounces all over the place but luckily still sounds good.

Bad tune, let try not to have the bun fight this caused last time it came up :D

And I'm still wondering whether this is the same tune credited to Culture D on a white label Pioneer Music 12" (stamped). Anyone can confirm they are different? I never heard the 7", but remember the discussion.

Shaggy & Chronixx - Bridges
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hn0RpNPsx4

Chronixx keeps on impressing and Shaggy is a truly underrated artist in reggae "connoisseur" circles

Also a lot of play of Mavado - Soldier (a tribute to Patrick Roach Samuels) which is a very nice new song over Leroy Smart's »Mother Liza« rhythm.

Just listened to the 12" on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zlSN-lI00M

Singer, rhythm and lyrics all different, only the theme is similar. I played it on my radio show last night, will post a link when I've put it on my site. Can hear it going off centre towards the end of the tune, I'll have to play it centred by eye in future :)

Thanks, Ringo. I really like that 12", but never thought of it as having the potential for epic status. It gets a little redundant. I look forward to hearing that 7" on your show!

Didn't know that there was that many cuts on the rhythm. I've only got the Gregory (i think).

No matter how many thousands of records you get over the years I still come across ones I haven't heard all the time.

Same riddim..... although Black Roots cuts are harder edged, Scientist at Tubby's mixes.....pretty certain the Coxsone pieces are on the Black roots cut with the vocal sung to the same melody as the Gregory piece.

Recording of the show got messed up, but I just salvaged a sample of the tune. It's off centre, so sounds better than this on the long notes especially if you centre it by eye:

That is very off center! You probably know already.. but you can find the position where the actual musical grooves go in a circle with no lateral movement, place an adapter on top, draw a circle with a pencil / pen around the adapter... so you will know where to position the record under the adapter when you want to play it to save some time next time! (so it will look something like this although not as bad hopefully :D) Image
& you place the adapter just inside the circle next time you want to play it...
