Opinions Are Like........

Postby underated » Mon Sep 30, 2013 6:20 pm

Yeah I'm sure everyone has heard that line many times before.

Opinions are amazing & it's great we all have them, i respect peoples thoughts, don't agree with many of them though.
Like when i read forums, someone will say such & such is a killa track , when i check out youtube, same thing.
I'm a reggae fan yet i think some of the tracks are terrible, they get 10 seconds of airplay from me then ditched never to be played again.

Yet someone will have a totally different view & luv the tracks to bits.
So yeah long may we all express our thoughts & opinions , that's what makes things great.

Now if i post up a real killa reggae track,
Someone will say it's crap :)

If you like it, then it's good. Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.

Yes,
It's always been that way & long may it continue.
In this age of social media, everybody tries to sway opinion, no matter the genre, everbody always tries to sound like they are speaking on behalf of somebody else, some people even do the payola thing for youtube hits & comments, as if trying to sway public opinion, if they like it , you will like it, because it is recommended just for you type of thing.

Yip, never follow the crowd,
unless you happen to agree with the crowd.

Many of us have fallen into the trap of buying tunes because of the hype surrounding them. I’ve done it in the past and I’ve ended up with several tunes that I don’t actually like.
It’s much better to share / promote the tunes you like rather than to perpetuate the hype.

I'M thinking back to the crate digging days.
More of often or not the labels would say made in JA or UK.
Buy that piece of plastic for between one & three quid, [7" 10" 12" or album].

Put it on the deck for 30 seconds.
If i liked it, the tune went in my box, if not it went in the trash can.

Now i would have to think if I'm a selecta or collecta.
Don't throw that away, somebody said it's good,
& that can go on ebay.

So glad i don't go that route.
