DEB reissues

Postby jay-b » Tue Nov 30, 2004 11:30 am

Just listening to the beautiful understated piano supporting Jackie Edwards "come on home"...

Anyway back to the question. Has anyone heard any of the new DEB reissues - especially the twelves that ernie has?

I've got DEB's General and the Freddy McKay one. Both sound excellent imo. Clean sound, but clear and warm, so I'd say recommended.

Yes great stuff indeed! The Dennis 12" Oh What a day and General rule at the moment. Also the Black Echoes LP is highly recommended. Very nice reissues in original sleeves, original artwork... It will be intresting to see what they put out next.... hopefully "warning" by Desi Roots will be one of them....

Great new site by the way! Big up to the B+F crew! :D

Warning - Desi Roots (Emmanuel 7")

This one was doing the rounds not so long ago.

As was: Troubled World / What About The Half (DEB 10")

Yes Jackie, got the 7" but need the 12" for it´s more than crucial discomix.. The dub is different than the B-side on the 7" and the version that´s on the "Return to Umoja" LP.. Both are highly recommended though!

I got 4 of them. They're nicely pressed and sound crisp, loud and very heavy. I played them alongside the original issue of Mr Know It All and there was no discernable difference exept the price.

I grabbed the new 12", and they are all very nice pressings, with a rich sound, and a high production quality. Like Ringo said, not much discernible difference from past issues of the same material.
The 15, 16, 17 album "Magic Touch" is a good one. I have only listened to it once all the way through, but it stood out among the recent DEB releases.
My girlfriend really liked it, and It will definatley get some play at a live roots session.

Songs lTracks: Girls Imagination / Funny Feeling (Unreleased) / I’m Hurt / The Weather (Unreleased) / Emotion // Magic Touch (Unreleased) / Someone Special / Baby Love / I’ve Been Watching You (Unreleased) / Black Skin Boy
