I think you just took the last copy, they must have had at least 5 of them. My UK-loving friend bought two or three of them...

That reggae.co.uk lot had/has some real nice 12"s for reasonable prices. I'd say the b.b. Donaldson/u black and the Justin Hinds are good deals too. Still copies of both available. I was fortunate enough to pick up 2 unplayed copies of Mr. Spaulding - Your Love, perhaps his most overlooked single. I'm still searching for several Roots Rockers 12"s if anyone wishes to trade.

Made my record-hunting-round-by-bike through Amsterdam yesterday. Had been a while, some nice finds and tired legs as a result. :-)

Find of the day for me:
Dennis Brown - Stage Coach Showcase (Joe Gibbs LP) - love this album!

Also:
Gregory Isaacs - Who Cares b/w Don't Believe In Him (Silver Camel 10")
Eddie Schorcher & Jim Brown - Prisoner In Love b/w Version (Bridget International 10")
Little John - My Woman Is Crying & Jah Thomas - Shoulder Move b/w Version (Midnight Rock 12")
Little John - No Gambling b/w Jim Brown - No Competition (Midnight Rock 12")
Johnny Osbourne - Water Pumping b/w Wayne Smith - Music On My Mind (Starlight 12")
Leroy Smart & Ranking Joe - Miserable Woman b/w Think About Tomorrow (Cactus 12")
Ijahman & Madge - Mellow Music b/w Alric Forbes - Jah Is Coming Again (Jahmani 12")
Various Artist - Gilbert (Rooney / Firehouse LP)
Yellowman - Just Cool (Jah Guidance LP)
Itals - Cool And Dread (Nighthawk LP)
Frankie Paul - Rub-a-Dub Market (Mango LP)

BMC, which record stores did you go to in 'Dam??

I will be there in October and would like to fit in some crate digging if possible.

Much appreciated

I visited 8 shops yesterday, scattered over the centre of Amsterdam, but certainly not all easy to walk to if you wanna visit all. By bike is my preferred choice, an adventure on its own through the tourist-filled centre. :) I don't know exact addresses of these, just know where they are, but no numbers. Look on the net by the name for full details I'd say.

They were (in brackets street names that I do know):
Concerto (Utrechtsestraat)
Amstel Antiques (Amstel)
Record Friend (close to Nieuwmarkt)
Wax Well (in one of the 'famous' 9 small streets over the canals, very close to Dam square)
Velvet (Rozengracht, very little reggae in there)
Second Life (Prinsengracht, not much reggae there either)
Record Palace (Weteringschans, close to Leidseplein and across the street of Paradiso)
Record Mania (Ferdinand Bolstraat)

From all of these, Record Mania, Record Friend and Wax Well have the biggest selection in my experience. Wax Well prices are slightly lower than the other two, but real bargains are hard to find, they usually know quite well what they are selling and price accordingly. You can be lucky at times though. From my finds I posted above a bunch came from some antique + more store I only know by location (no name or street, just know how to bike there) who had an interesting selection of reggae for 2,50 - 5,00, but the seller said this was unique for him to have these type of records (didn't even had a reggae section, no sections at all actually). Not in the centre either.

Thank you so much, my girlfriend is very keen to rent bikes so getting to them shouldn't be a problem. Getting her to come in and have a dig with me might prove a little more troublesome!!

Another Roman Stewart platter: "Babylon" b/w "Nattie Groove" on a 12" Foreward. Both sides are killer.

hi mick.

I saw that piece on ebay, and hope you picked it up for the opening bid of $9.99! I saw it with not much time left in the auction and it was still at opening price; I couldn't believe it.

you're so right--a killer double-sider.
