Right On/Black Pearl Represses

Postby skunkride » Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:12 pm

A while ago there were 4 (bootleg?) 7" represses which were released together -the 2 Roy Dobson tunes, Ricky Storme & a 4th one...anyone remember what it was ? (just trying to remember if it was something i'm after 8) )

Also how is the sound quality on the Roy Dobson tunes ?

The fourth tune was by I Kong 'Zion Come ~Home'

Michael Anthony 'Living In Sorrows' - boom bassline, proper deep vibration.

Both my Roy Dobsons play fine.

I wonder like Mighty Diamonds Gate of Zion whether these 4 bootlegs pre-empt an official release for all four tunes?

I use a cheap Sony 9000 deck, imitation 1210 style. The Stanton head is very low-riding but engages well with the groove, no 1 pence piece needed!

My problem with Stanton heads is that any slight bump or hard warp means a tune wont play on my deck as the vinyl hits the plastic base of the surround around the needle.

These tunes mentioned above are all pressed flat thankfully so at the very leaqst they spin without any external rubbing noises or skips from my Stanton.

Hope this helps.

I also have a cheap Stanton str8-30 with its original head but to no avail. I ll try a new stylus and report. Maybe it is my batch. Cheers.
