Continual prejudice plays it's part and unjustly endures.

If councils want to make the effort it is possible to set a standard and to show what can be done and what is not and will not be tolerated. It's about time they got pro-active instead of re-active. But then again, stick with the prejudice and you don't have to put anything on.. oh yeah, and bosses like that, because of course.. that'll be saving money..!

Bit late in the day, but thought I would say how banging Bristol Carnival was..! Good sun, good music, good everything. Simeon you tore it up, as did many other selectors that day.

Anymore outdoor events going down in london over the next few months, apart from brixton splash/notting hill.. ??

Brixton Splash this Sunday 4th August - no Wassie One, Vibes Machine or Nasty Rockers this year but I-Spy (The People's Sound) string it up on Atlantic Road by Argos and other sounds are around Coldharbour Lane / Atlantic Road/Electric Avenue. 2-7pm. T.

word pon street around Brixton is Channel One will replace 12/12 on Atlantic.

I think I'll leave it to Gregory to validate this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1FuuD7xHvE

Not impossible - current CH1 schedule posted was
1st August - Nottingham
2nd August - Rise and Shine Festival, Vienna
3rd August - Tunbridge Wells
6th August - Jerusalem
9th August - Boomtown

4th looks doable.

Man they're a hard working sound!

By the way Solution at Whitecross was wonderful - facebook pics if you can access them

Don Letts is still on the scene? that's amazing. bet he looks much as he did early 80s?

and this DJ Derek gets a lot of press. anything special outside of a most unlikely codger pulling dub plates from his basket?

you don't know how much I wish I could be around for some of this stuff.

one love

Saw Derek a few months back.
He's a great entertainer for sure! I hear he's retiring this year so it's one of the last chances to catch him in London.

Personally not my cuppa in terms of selection, but he's quite an endearing character!

DJ Derek is definitely retiring. Skylarkin from Oxford has him booked for a couple more shows, including the Brixton Splash, but that's it. Not really for the deep roots fans, but he plays well for the party crowd, a bit like Earl Gateshead used to at the Dive Bar, but cheesier. Don Letts probably made more impression on the punks (like myself) as a reggae DJ rather than on other reggae fans, but he has more than shown his commitment over the years and is always involved in something interesting. His dreads go right round the block these days I think!
