Bunny Wailer: Cool Runnings/Version - Solomonic 7"

Postby Frontline Bwoy » Mon Jul 22, 2013 9:04 pm

Hi All,

Determined to try and find a better copy of this than what I've got on my 30 year old TDK-SA90, I have to date bought three copies of this single, from the UK, Germany and Japan - and they are all scratched to f**k.

I mean virtually unlistenable! As the guy Beshara's talking to on his 12" of 'Men Cry Too' says: 'Things bad man. Really, really bad'.

So, does anyone have a better copy of this single I could buy, please? Or, lest the moderator a strike me down dead - any format considered.

Thanks

If you don't care about having a physical copy the KAZO records a/b sides - Bunny Wailer - Black Vinyl B-05 has rips of both sides of the 12" and 7" in good quality flac.

The differences between the 7 and the 12 :

- quite obviously the 12 lasts longer than the 7 (ca 5 mn/ca 3 mn 30)
- the 7 has a better high end frequency presence - otherwise, there's no audible differences in the mixes
- surprisingly enough for a Bunny Wailer record, they run at the same speed

I have both the 7 and the album version and I actually prefer the album version as the 7" sounds like it runs a fraction slower than the album.

Also available on Solomonic 12 though I haven't heard that.

Can anyone tell me if Ballroom Floor, Dance Rock & Rootsman Skanking were ever issued on 7" or 12"?
I'd love to track them down if they are.......

Sorry,,, no record info here --- but knew this 1987s[???] t-shirt was around here somewhere - that it was kind of 'fitting' ha ha...

Speaking of 'fitting' - XL sure seemed to mean something else back in those 80s when it came to t-shirt sizes. I don't think a squirrel can squeeze into this XL --- mainly bought it cause it was one of the few Reggae t-shirts to even buy back then, let alone it's rather unique design [back then] --- vs. having hopes it would fit me after one washing [i have long arms, yeah, that's it :D ]

Image

Uh oh, a Reggae t-shirt 'thread' possibility - yikes, now that was a 'stretch'... i'll go get my XXX-L coat

UK and often JA t shirts are totally sized small...I wear a XL and ive found that XXL in UK shirt is way too small, plus they are of real flimsy material that shrinks like crazy when dried in a dryer. maybe that's the problem here? or, if the shirt is from JA, just remember how their records are...
