The whole music spectrum is going neo-retro, and most of the best 2000's tunes belong to that vibe. It's just that it is mostly underground or "overground", not mainstream(apart from a few cases, like A Winehouse and such...).
For a kid who grew up to techno, garage, grime, dubstep,r&b, commercial rap, such sounds just happen to sound fresh. Many young ones go crazy for early digital sounds at dances, as they don't sound like electro/r&b, a standardized style which can be heard in any urban music worldwide nowadays.
Good to hear Kuff again, some nice songs, but not too imaginative either, really. The Speak Softly "cover" is disastrous, though, but very reminiscent of a certain singing vibe of the second half of the 80's.
