This is great, thanks to all of you, I just ordered the My Number One, it looks like exactly the sort of thing I wanted and I hadn't heard of it before despite having about 60 albums by him. It's crazy no-one else has put together all these extended versions. I'm going to get my vinyl out and list the ones I have and start a 12" discography.

I like those GG/Hit 12"s (Border, Chunnie...) and to mention a new one: Cool Down The Pace extended (Island 12") with radics band is a good one too IMO.

I just spent quite a while listing my records and then pressed Submit and it all disappeared! Is there a time-out, or what happened?

I like the stuff he did for GG's as well. I bought Chunnie at the time (got rid of it) and have recently rebought a near mint copy for under $10 so you can certainly pick them up at a reasonable price. On discs like this you get the bonus of a Trinity toast (always one of the best djs) and a full length dub on the flip.

personally I never really cared for the DJ extensions on these GG mixes...kind of ruined them for me. much would have preferred they put the dj cut on the b side and continue the vocal with the dub mix instead. but they never asked me so...

not really sure that Number 1 release is all extended mixes. certainly some are as indicated on the track list but I don't think most of them are extended.

oh yeah sensational mr isaacs, great release full of killer extended versions. one side of it is repeated on that issacs/Ronnie davis combination record too.

That 'number one' album is very similar to the 'lonely days' one I mentioned, pretty much the same cover too. I'm pretty sure JB is right and only 3 or so are extended - but that version of border is immense.
There an extended version of Rock On for Niney too.

U Brown toast on the Border 12" is superb IMHO, adds value to the song.

just to show how subjective tastes are, that Border 12" was exactly what I was thinking of (though I had not realized it at the time) when I wrote that bit about kinda ruins it for me. That's one in particular I would much prefer the vocal be followed by the dub and that's how I remastered it for my own listening pleasure. I think I left that initial u brown "Yaaaaaaaa", or however you might type out that interjection, in there but then mixed the dub version from that point on. don't know what I ever did with that mix, around on cd somewhere, I used to make GI mixes for girls I knew quite often. Quite often had the intended effect too. Well OK, maybe not "quite often" but did get me somewhere more than once.

Our reasons for buying these 12" singles are exactly the same as mine!
