A lot of money for sure but well spent if you ask me.I'm not his biggest fan but when I saw his show a couple of years ago I was positively surprised. One of the best JA stage performers I ever saw.

Sad to say but it doesn't seem like an awful lot of money. It seems rare that any 'names' come to Vancouver and tickets are less than $100 or so.

For an artist of Jimmy Cliff's magnitude I don't think it's a very expensive ticket (in comparison with other big names of course). But it is a lot of money still. Having lived on a very limited budget for several years I've never paid that much to see an artist because I haven't been able to afford it.

In europe, more and more shows of artists of lesser stature can easily reach around 30 euros.
It's true that there is a serious recession going on and it is not so easy for a number of reggae fans - or of any other genre, really - to fork out money as they could do before. On the other hand, boycott isn't a tradition in many european countries when it comes to expensive shows. There are certain scenes where such practice used to exist (too expensive ? just let's not go!) but not often seen such reactions in reggae circles.
On the other hand, JC with his current band must really be an act to watch. Some years ago,i couldn'thave cared less but since he released his Rebirth album,i would consider going. This is a tight band, with real roots, who can do as well on his crossover tunes.
Saw the video of their concert in Marrakech last year and it was mighty fine (let alone Reggae Night, which had the audience going crazy, but that's another story... ).

Personally think after 50 years with the shoulder to the wheel and being one of the biggest names in Reggae music, i dont think 38 is too much at all. Love to see the veterans getting paid for there work.

Funnily a guy in work who's big into rock was asking me who to recommend reggae wise as he wanted to dip into it.. i gave him a long list of music to check, burning spear, augustus pablo, yabbby you, dennis brown etc dont think he listened to any of it but came back to me raving about Jimmy Cliff after seeing him on Letterman :)

Jimmy Cliff's concert has been one of the BEST reggae shows I have ever been to (and i am not a big JC fan!!) but 38 euro is very very expensive. Too much!! I wouldnt pay it.

i say scrape the sheets together and get yourself to that show.....

in years to come when seeing him live is no longer an option 38 sheets will seem like pennies...

i've seen him live twice and he smashed it both times....

When you think about the number of the older reggae players that have passed in the few years, you might go just because JC might not be around again.I've seen him twice, he works hard for the money & I doubt you'll be disappointed. I've not been.

JC isn't even that old, really, it's just that he started very early. Of course, he found international success very early too, which means he avoided the hardships many veterans of his generation went through.
