Special Ed See it Ya

Postby juniorsound » Mon Jun 03, 2013 3:03 am

ya I was writing up a little thing about NYC hiphop reggae, and this song really stands out to me as a kid, when i was blown away by something unexpected after a strong but typical mid 90's hip hop album. I was never the same after the guy Coolie comes in and drops culture lyrics after Special Ed's verse. just a big tune I think. anyone know anything about this guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MPr83eZCQg

On his sophomore LP Legal, Ed recruited his brother Drew Archer—AKA “Coolie Man,” an apparent reference to the Archers’ Indian blood and features—to collaborate with him on “See It Ya,’” a bass-heavy tune in the vein of “Heds and Dreds”—and one that has not yet been uploaded to Youtube.

Yes, those reggae tracks he included on his albums were pretty nice. Just a shame about his fake JA accent, although being from JA origins.

But man..., the flow of Special Ed on his first LP...

Check "I got it made", probably in my all-time top 3 hiphop tunes:

Or "Think about it":

Seeing that video again takes me right back to the days of watching Yo MTV Raps after school! :-)
