Minidub, was just spinning that LP the other day. Wicked track.

Not a day goes by that I don't listen to some music from the VI.

yes, jps, it is a wicked track.

i almost didn't reply, because it's a very rare day that i listen to any VI reggae--and i didn't want to offend. i know you are a huge fan of this music, and i didn't want to be a buzz kill.

but you know, the truth is, you'll still listen and love it, so i can't kill your vibe (not that i'd want to)! and if you think about it, it really just speaks volumes about this particular tune; it appeals to a critic of much of the VI music.

what i like is that you can listen to VI music on a daily, and i on a rarely, but there is still common ground. ites.

Much respect minidub, and I would never take offense to anyone not liking what I do. That's what makes us who we are. Everyone has their own tastes and I do realize that there are lots that aren't fond of the VI sound.

I'm probably partial to it since I grew up in and around Washington DC and was exposed to it a lot in the early 2000's when Midnite and Bamby Station were living and spending lots of time there. My wife and I have also made a few trips to the VI and met and spent time with a lot of these artists, and found how humble they are so I appreciate it that much more.

As you said though, it speaks volumes about this particular tune; it appeals to a critic of much of the VI music.

Bless

Barry Ford - Maggie's Farm / 1984 (Sun Star 12") -- Barry Ford's (from Merger) cover of the Bob Dylan classic and a critique on Maggie Thatcher. Nice UK roots arrangement featuring Rico with a heavy and long dub. I usually just play it for the dub side but today the lyrics are worth a rinse.

Chereene - To You Natty Dread (Burning Sounds) 12"

What a perfect springtime spin!

To you natty dread
With all my heart
To you natty dread
May we never part
You're like a rose that blooms in spring
You're like an April shower
You're the light the morning brings
Because you have Jah power

To you natty dread
To you natty dread

Some say you're a revolutionist
You're a gangster of love
I know that as a rastaman
All you can do is love
