I was listening to the Jesus Dread box the other day and got stuck on the magnificent "Chant Jah Victory" with Errol Alphonso on vocals. When coming to think of it I cant come to recall any other tune he've done. Or are there more tunes out there with this singer?
. . . live good and good shall come to you . . .

If I remember correctly he was a gunman and he was killed shortly after recording "Chant Jah Victory".

'Chant Jah Victory' was originally released on Hot City as 'Jah Love' in 1974. It was then released in 2000 on a Vivian Jackson (JA) 12" and in 2006 on a Vivian Jackson (JA) 7". Both the latter are remastered and the 2006 release is longer than the original 7" release.

so does a correctly labeled press of "chant jah victory" on Hot City exist? looks like no?
and related question, is there a pressing labeled "jah love" that actually plays that tune and not errol alphonso?
and if so, which tune is it, "love of jah" or "warn the nation" ? (assuming it's a altered titling of one of those and not another tune altogether!)

I had a 70s press on prophet label correctly labelled.. Theres a Leroy smart cut on a showcase lp too..called I am not a king.
»Chant Jah Victory« was also released with dub in 1976 on an LP called Twelve Tribes of Israel on the Lucky label. Same label that released Yabby You's Ram-A-Dam.

For what it's worth, a little extra info on the Prophets 7" release of "Chant Jah Victory": the date on the label is 1975, and the "Chanting Version" side is credited to the Soul Syndicate.

Another sad tale behind a killer tune. Have had the 12" for some time and love it to bits.
