Crucial Ruler presents its newest release in the realm of digital style roots reggae. This 10” release is limited to 500 copies and features the collaboration of heavyweight Jamaican producer/singer Linval Thompson as well as the sensational UK roots singer Echo Ranks.
On side A Echo Ranks delivers us “Weh Dem A Go Run” over the Tea & Soya riddim, a conscious tune in full UK Dub style. Straight from the hands of Dubby Ambassah, “Weh Dem A Go Run Dub” highlights the instrumentation of the Dub Crucials in a deadly dubwise fashion.
On side B we find Linval Thompson. This living legend of Jamaica, with more than 30 years of experience as singer and producer, sounds fresher than ever with “Country Living”, a tune proudly advocating natural living, far from the big city. “Living Dub” follows, hitting us with the deep throbbing bass of the 945 Dub riddim. Brought to us by Robbie Simeon, this riddim was used for Crucial Ruler’s 10” release (CR1002) from 2011 which featured Dixie Peach "Trod On Home", Ranking Forrest "Big Drum Machine", Ras Telford "Sons Of Nansa" y Dub Crucials "Dub On Home".
Crucial Ruler is a label that was created by Dubby Ambassah (Pirate’s Choice Recordings) and Puppa BB (Bomb Bass Hi-Fi), serving as a vehicle to spread their digital reggae productions upon vinyl grooves. On CR we find the flavoUr of the original 80’s sound, Computerized Rub-A-Dub, and of course digital roots and dub.
All the cuts on this record were mixed by R. Sanchez at his A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio.
