One that comes to mind is Michael Prophet's "Gunman", the Volcano 7" has a completely different mix (without horns) than the Greensleeves 12".

There are lots of tunes I have on 7" and 12" where both contain the same mix, but the sound quality on the 12" is so much better that I consider it to be a different piece of music, especially when played out at high volume.

in the first\second page of this discussion i read about a 12'' of Burn Babylon by Sylford Walker...does it realy exist? I have "su su pon rasta" which have a different cut to the 7'' and a trinity dj version...but i realy never seen the Burn Babylon 12''...does someone have a label scan?

I'm also curious about the 12'' of Chester Coke - Behave Yourself...i've always seen the 7''...but never the 12'' , i have on Solid State 12'' African Race which was released on 7'' too...if the Behave Yourself 12'' exist or it exist with different cut\label of the solid state one , is possible to have a scan too?

I never seen this cut on 12" original press.
Interestingly, it has just seen a 12" release a few weeks ago, with the Trinity toast after, see it there :

I can't get over this tune, even though it's [i believe the first cut] lyrics are different from the second cut of it. [if you have both 7", you'll know / hear what i mean.

Killer Top Class Roots [IMHO]

and to clear up the confusion, I have not seen or heard a 12" cut of this tune, i doubt very seriously it exist. I for one can confirm African Race is on a 12" as well as 7" 8) 8)

yes you're right vinnie, when i had both copies in hand i looked @ them closely [ i'm no label expert] and yes they looked very i dentical even though one was blue & white, and the other was Light & dark brown but different arrangements in style of lyrics. 8)

The most marked tune for me when i picked up the 12" of forgive i the ark i was so dissapointed.. The dub is so weak on the 12, dry mix and terrible sound quality its awful.

Got the 7 and flogged the 12. 7 absolutely destroys it.

Also barrington levy prais ehis name muck better dub mix on the 7. also the 12" is louder but somehow more hollow.

Funny because the 12 sells for triple the price.

I never could make my mind over 7 or 12 of hold not thy peace, think i prefer the 12, but kept both bercase i love the tune so much.

Something else i noticed is on the jammys releses, the 7"s are acutually longer than the live and love 12"s.

The 7 of ah no me she love chuck turner goes into somer wicked high bass at the end but the 12s are cut shortl.

Listen carefully before you sell.

Peter Broggs:

Golden Throne (Selena 12")
Higher Field Marshall (Hit Run 12")

Both amazing, but the Selena cut wins.
