Pretty righteous selection of classic dubstep with a few newbies thrown in for good measure. From what I've seen, I don't think there's enough reggae-->dubstep crossover when people DJ. I find the sweet reggae music leavens the heaviosity of the dubstep, puts it into relief, over the course of a session. While the DS shows the evolution. I'm doing a dubstep/reggae night at my local this summer. All to educate the kids, of course.

Yes Aaron, too much of one good thing is good for nothing. Plenty of heavy dub to complement a heavy vibe as well. So many kids make the d'n'b and techno connections, but not so much with the reggae. I set out on a dub mission a while ago, so dubstep seemed logical once it the more stepper-type riddims came in. It all depends on where you're at, I guess. Check out where this kid from the Planet Houston is coming from:

Thanks for the shows Lord Dubious. I've been listening to the first one a lot. I've always been a big old school dub fan and am just now getting into the dubstep. Not surprisingly, I really like the tunes with more of a reggae feel than the ones that lean more toward hip hop. For example, that Obeah - Noise for Ohoi tune is a scorcha! I also love Pinch's Brighter Day tune. Can anyone recommend more dubstep like this?

Thanks for listening, PC. More to come. Personal all time favorite dub-oid dubstep is probably "Officer" by Coki. Big skanking vibes on that one, which is followed by any one of three or four or five Skream tunes.

Keep up the good work spreadin' tha word.

PS: Have you visited Nick's http://gutterbreakz.blogspot.com/ it was the site for all things dupstep, but he was burned out and gives himself a wider remit these days--still a fun read.

Those WAR 12"s are virtually impossible to track down here in the states. Still want that first one with the Matty G doing up BMW's "War" and Prince Jazzbo's "Ital Corner" on the flip. If it's not on the one you just got, I know someone did a refix of "Just One of Those Days" recently. I also believe it's Sizzla in a break during Mala's "Lean Forward". Could very well be wrong on that one

As for Gutterbreakz, I have not checked him much since he went away and then came back. Amigas, 80s comps, dubstep-great blog. Memories of when I was reading it on the regular remind me of when dubstep was even newer and more exciting. Me and a friend were hypothesizing the other night that perhaps 04/05 was truly the peak and now it's all downhill. Geezer moment alert!

To answer my own question: "Broken Home" Burial (hyperdub); finally came to me today.

I see Nick is starting an online record label for unreleased electronic music from the last 20 years. It looks to be a home recording/demo type of affair. Quite specialised, but ace if that 's your thang.
