What's happening in Rome?

Postby Anonymous » Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:38 am

I'll be visiting Rome for the first time next week (Sunday 10 to Thursday 14), so my question is if there's any good dances, events, record stores I should visit?

One Love is the shop to go for, if you are into new JA stuff. Also, they are running a club every wednesday night (at least were running last November) with guests passing through.

LdM is the sound in Rome for roots music. Not sure if they have anything going on that period, though. They read this board from time to time, so maybe they can update what's happening... Have fun in Roma! One of teh nicest cities in Europe, IMO.

One Love Music Corner: (Reggae specialist - mainly repress / new releases, few 2nd hand)

00185 ROME

monday 15,30 - 20,00 tue-sat 10,30 - 13,30 / 15,30 - 20,00

Quite nearby (a couple of streets away (towards termini station)) there was a big recordshop as well with various kinds of music.. some 2nd hand reggae, some soul jazz releases etc... dont remember its name but anyone could tell you where.. (if they understand your question of course!! very hard to communicate with italians - i must have 'spoken' to about 50 of them over the few days i was there.. and maybe 1 or 2 spoke a little english! most couldnt understand a thing..)

BigUp Olli, the original traveller! it's time to catch up again somewhere! :D

One Love has plenty of tunes from JA, most dancehall, bashment, ragga and new roots. Very few 2hand and oldies, unfortunately zero Uk production or roots/dub vynils in general. But this is not their musical target, they focus on JA music. check http://www.onelovehp.com

the shop nearby 1love music corner is

Disfunzioni Musicali
Via Degli Etruschi 4
06 4461984 - 06 4441461

just a couple of street away. Sometimes, you can find some nice used items, plus LPs/cds/singles most 10/12" that 7", not a big choice but sometimes I've catch some little gems there. Anyway, not properly a "reggae-shop"...

As you are comin from the UK I suppose, you definitely dont need to pass trough us and our little distro (not well updated right now) and is much more easier for you to cross the road and find fresh uk vynils. We work mostly for the local massive :)

Unfortunately Fouronethree no sessions planned for that period for us, here after summer things starts moving in the second half of september. If you are into bashment, OneLove is opening on thursday the 14 their season in the place Olli was mentioning and this is the one and only event for that 5 days:

Via levanna 11

and yes ephteeay: english is definitely not the second language for italians, but you can be lucky sometimes...

Bless to all the boardies

Horace Andy - Rome/Prince Jammy - Dub Down Rome
Anthony B - Fire Pon Rome

somehow i can't imagine a lot of roots being too popular over there... unless the youths are either *really* hardcore rebels, or don't overstand the lyrics... ;)
