shades of hudson

Postby gryffe » Fri Dec 03, 2004 9:23 pm

great compilation this - i know some people on here think that trojan just regurgitate ad nauseum but great music is great music. 55 tracks in all, it cost me £7.99 so cracking value even if it does have 5 versions of true to my heart (by hudson twice, i roy, h andy and earl flute) but when the riddim is this good who cares - not me anyway

gryffe

ps - does anybody know the link for the site that used to be buss-upsetter, the site that had album covers, tracklists etc - cheers

Agreed about the Hudson set Gryffe! Mine was a tenner, had around half of the tunes but this is still worth every penny.

The site you want is: http://www.roots-archives.com

Big up Seb and all Roots Archives massive!

shades of hudson, or the hudson affair??

Postby gryffe » Fri Dec 03, 2004 9:37 pm

cheers gordy - i love that site, lots of great info!!

there seems to be a mix up as to what this latest hudson comp is called, the trojan website calls it the hudson affair, however amazon call it shades of hudson and it has a totally different sleeve. in fact when i received my cd from them there was a note enclosed saying "this IS the hudson affair" confused the hell out of me!!

The Hudson set still hasn't in arrived Frankfurt. But judging from the tracklist, it sure is a scorcher!
Compiled by Dave Hendley, that's all I need to know :lol:

Trojan have a habit of changing their covers. The first one is on the Trojan site, the 2nd is from Amazon and I guess its correct?

Definitely on my "must buy the moment I see it" list, even though I have a good many of the tracks already, still there's enough on there that I haven't heard to make it a worthwhile purchase. And I don't usually pick up much Trojan stuff, but lately they are starting to put out some releases that just can't be passed over...

The Hudson set was originally going to be called 'Shades of Hudson' but it was changed to 'The Hudson Affair' to avoid confusion with an earlier VP Hudson compilation called 'Shades of Hudson'. The green cover was a draft done when the release was going to be titled 'Shades of Hudson'. The yellow/black cover is as finally released as 'The Hudson Affair'.
I like both, and I also really like 'The Hudson Affair' back cover;
