What IS this???? I taped the dub off Tony Williams' show back in '79/'80 and I know it's by Johnny Clarke but that's about all I know.
Cheers in advance.
Cheers but alas it's definitely not a cut to "Peace & Love in the ghetto" (which I do have). It's really bugging me this. I bet Champion will know.....
You're right about that Johnny Clarke/Tapper Zukie match up Wareika, but I'm sure 'Living In The Ghetto' is a different tune. Need to pack up work (sooooon please!!!) and go home to check which one though.
I have it on the Deejay Version page of Johnny Clarke .com as being on - Peace In The Ghetto, but there's a possibility it could be on a version of 'In The Roots Of The Ghetto'. I don't have the Zukie cut so can't say for sure, if yo post a sound clip somewhere i could help out maybe..
"Dance this Rebel Music / Smile Dub-Johnny Clarke..... cuts to Johnny Clarke's vocal of ' Best to rise with a smile on your face'." extracted and paraphrased from `johnnyclarke.com`(could`nt find any other reference to the tune though !).... in other words a cut of `silvertones - smile` and the rhythm upon which the toast is based.
