Burning Spear - Creation Rebel (Heartbeat / Studio One 2-LP)

(brought my portable turntable today and received my Ernie B order this morning here, so now me and the colleaugues are rocking to the sounds of the Burning Spear at Studio One (after I first played the 7" of Junior Gong's Welcome To Jamrock to them! :D ).

I'm a PhD-student in theoretical chemistry, so my job is doing research and computational research to be precise. I have my own working spot with iMac here and share a room with two music-fans. What we play and do in the room is our business, the boss (the professor) nor my supervisor couldn't care less, the only thing they want are good results and a good working spirit, both of which are fine in my case. :D

Nope, that would require experimental work and I hate lab-experiments! :)
I like chemistry and chemicals, but in books and on my screen, not in my hands!

I probably can make a chemical mix out of yard vinyl from Scratch though.

Saturday Morning, 5am, I was working at Oval station (London Underground Station for non UK/London based Boarders)......deadly quiet that time of the morning, and I was occupying myself with the progress of a little mouse as it worked its way around the ticket hall......so I sneaked my little hand held radio in the box where I was sitting for a warm up...and, flicking through the Pirates, landed on Genesis FM to the wonderful sound of Ernest Wilson's "I know Myself"...which I proceeded to turn up extra loud to echo through the Underground System........

Love !

That's good to hear Bill! That 5 CD set I was talkin' about goes out to you this week, what may be some more food for deciding who to book. The best out there at the moment imo: Turbulence!

Let me know how it turns out and when the next discs arrived, ok.

How's that portable turntable doing for you BMC, and where did you get it? I am thinking about purchasing one but I'm still not sure.

I bought it at de Bijenkorf during the "3 dwaze dagen", DG (you might know these yearly days of special offers in the Bijenkorf). It was the first one I actualy ever saw and it was about 90 euro, but I had a discount because I know someone with a discount-card. I think 100 was the normal price. However, they told me that they sold it only during these days and as long as they were in stock. A day and a half later they were all gone apparantely.

That aside, I use it mainly to spin some tunes at work with my roommates here, for instance when I know a parcel of tunes is gonna be delivered. The brand is Numark, not a very good name I believe, but good enough for what I use it for. It has a build in speaker (lousy ofcourse), pitch control, 45 adapter, plays 33, 45 and 78 (!) rpm, has possibility for headphones (big and small plug) and you connect it to an external amplifier. Works with an adapter or on batteries. No idea what type of stylus and all that stuff. For what I use it for, it is fun and nice to have imo.

This nice German site sells the Numark and the Vestax one. I heard somewhere that the Vestax was best - don't remember where now to be honest.
