Iirc the Roots Man issues were of 'dubious' sources? (someone here may recall more about it?) If so, it's fantastic that these Gemini 12"s will be giving back, to the rightful owners of the music.
I'm sure I'll be picking them up :D

Love the studio chat on the start of "Message From The Congo".
Wondering if Tubby's studio was really equipped for stereo mixing in 1975 ?
Not sure but i think that Tubby mixes from the mid 70s are always mono.

JJ, those 2 bootlegs you linked are pure sh*t, probably sourced from Youtube.
2 of the most horrible sounding records i ever had.

the record is mixed in stereo on the master tape, but like most JA records at the time, cut in mono.

re: the stereo discomix, it's likely the stereo panning was done at RCA studio in Canada, as noted on the 'roots' LP label, but again, it's mixed in stereo on the tape.

Does the 'D4' or '4D' symbol in the bottom corner of Kaya Dub cover have any significance ????

Skunkride , Yes they are pretty 'tinny' sounding for sure :x

After doing a bit of research it turns out that the 4D symbol on the cover of Kaya Dub was a remnant of an earlier cover design done before the Maya Dread issue, when this album was going to be titled as 'Fourth Dimension Dub' ! Amazing

Wow! Thanks for that info, jj. Where did you read about this? Seen the logo appear on several Kaya discos as well. What would the connection be there I wonder.
