The music industry in Jamaica is bursting at the seams, as new artistes vie to make their contribution to the World renowned Reggae Music. But the one separated from the pack, is an outstanding individual named Corey Marcus Alexander Garvey affectionately called Izrel, aka The Cotton Pikka. Corey has been a part of this endeavor since the age of seven, performing in his Waterford community and the extended Portmore area, where he projected his own style dominating the stage; he was both a thrill and a treat. It then became quite evident that he was destined for the World stage. Corey continues to be the live wire he was then, as he displays intense vibrancy on stage today; and has a unique way of connecting with his audience like no other.
Izrel's love for music has propelled him into the role of Song Writer. His lyrics are profound and relatable to all generations. Hence, his hit single "Pack Up Yu Things” feat. Ras Ajai, and produced by Dean Fraser, seized the number #1 spot for five weeks on Links TV's Top Twenty video Countdown. The video also ruffled the charts on Hype TV's VTX Top Ten Countdown, securing the #5 spot and has been getting regular rotation on CVM TV and TVJ.
The Cotton Pikka has made appearances at events such as, “Sting”, “ST. Mary Mi Cum Fram", “Champions In Action", “Rebel Salute”, “West Kingston Jamboree”, “Portmore Culture Fest”, “Summer Is Here"and "Tarrus and Frenz in Concert". He's also the opening act for reggae super star Tarrus Riley. Not only does Izrel focuses his energy on live performances, but has graced mass media with his ‘bubbly’ personality appearing on television programs like Smile Jamaica TVJ, Hype TV, Intense, Entertainment Prime, E/Plus, Swag TV, etc. For Radio, he sat on "Full House Fridays" on Fame FM, "Vibing with the artiste" on Sun City Radio and News Talk 93 FM. Also, Internet radio interviews.
Izrel is presently recording his Debut album alongside veterans such as, Bobby Digital, Cali-Buds, Dean Fraser, Mikey Bennett, Big Ship Records and Executive producer Richard Dawkins, CEO and co-founder of (KMI) Kingston Music Institution.
Still, Pikka is a man of his own order, and has a lot up his sleeve."Nuttin nuh happen B4 the time" he would say. With his soon to be released album, his raspy voice features romance and hardcore alike; setting the mood and pumping up the vibes. The Cotton Pikka is very diverse with his choice of lyrics, causing tracks like "Nuh Trust Them" feat. Jah Rain "Pack up Yu Tingz", "Poor People" and "Blaze up Sup’hm”, to receive regular air play gaining traction worldwide. Izrel not only captures ones attention with his songs, but also with his charisma; yet, he's a steel of a deal and nothing seems to break him. He is Incomparable, with the Zeal to Record Exemplary Lyrics. Hence, the name IZREL.
Corey Marcus Alexander Garvey, the man that defines quality music, has now come full circle back on the community stage; only this time he's in full command and more daring as ever. He possesses the capacity to take Reggae music to another level. (KMI) Kingston Music Institution is now empowered to set the bar for quality music, with an outstanding artiste as Izrel "The Cotton Pikka "wearing its label.
