I had this about ten years ago on a short lived cassette that I got from a friend of a friend of a friend etc. so I never got to find out who it is. I had it just long enough for it to get stuck in my head. I'm pretty sure that it's fairly well known. It goes something like: "If you see my eyes red, you think I've been crying...my head/dread/something red?" I think that the gist of it is that his eyes are red from smoking.

If you can't find the original 12" on vinyl, the same vocal & dub mix of Red Eyes was issued a couple of years ago on a reggae CD in the Classic Mastercuts Series. It was on the Beechwood label, I think?

(Sorry but my VA collection is in a right mess at the moment and I can't find it, but I'm sure it was on there.)

And on the B side of that, or at least on the 12" I got a few years back is the sublime, 'Got A Light', an even beter tune in my personal opinion.

"got a light" imo is a good tune but gets boring i think after a few listens (the way i listen to a tune...over and over and over again continuously).. red eyes has lasted years and i still like listening to it.. beautiful horns..

Killer tune, probably Vivian Jones' best.

Although the Bank Robbery album comes close.
