Another id from old Shaka tape..

Postby Lionofjudah » Tue Dec 21, 2004 8:46 pm

Greetings.
Anyone here who have heard 'Jah Shaka at Shrimpers '86'?
Trying to id a tune from that session. Part 1 towards the end.
It's the tune after the vocal cut to 'The African' produced by Dennis Bovell. Here's the first few lines "Love and understanding that's all we need to get by, reach out and give a hand to the one you really love..". A great tune on a wicked riddim! Hopefully someone knows it.

Lion, from the few people i've asked about this tune, i'm sure its - barrington levy "full understanding". dont have it myself, but do have another (not as essential) cut on one of the virgin frontline comps by sly dunbar called "mr bassie".

...off the top of my head, it's John Holt singing (I'm sure Shaka tell's you this) over a version of Sammy Dread's "Morning Love" riddim (well that's what I know it as). I'm sure someone know what the John Holt track is, I don't.

Many thanks for your info. I'm positive it isn't 'Full understanding' because I have that tune. Same riddim as 'Look youthman' also by Barrington Levy. Ade, Shaka say something about the artist somewhere in the middle of the tune. But it's very difficult to hear. Maybe now when I have the name John Holt in my head it's easier. Thanks
