I have a Studio One tune called Chatty Chatty by Jim Nastic. It's a late 70's toaster version over some old tune...

it might be the one

Yes it has to be Jim Brown. There's no matrix "number" on the release at all. It just reads "C.S. Dodd - Chatty Chatty" on the run-out groove. B-side is dub, or rather a typical "instrumental with less vocals".

okay.. apparently its not a deejay but singer with voice similar to gladiators/bob marley

on the label is stamped "jamaica recording studio" and blanks to fill in artist/title
handwritten is "chatty chatty"
bside is an unrelated instrumental which is apparently very nice. i'll hear the tunes tomorrow.. and have a look for matrix nos.

thx for help anyway

Otherwise it could possibly be Chatty Chatty by Jack & The Beanstalks AKA Jackie Bernard/The Kingstonians. From 1969, the lyrics on this start with:
"leave by business alone and tend to your own, chatty chatty you chat too much"

I've got the UK press on Supreme so don't know the flip side on your one as that has this Kingstonians tune...

Listed in a Studio 1 discography:

1 - Chatty Chatty - The Jailbreakers (aka The Kingstonians)
Tim, thanks for the label pic.

2 - Chatty Chatty Woman - Lee Perry

Then there's a 'Chatty Chatty Mouth' by the Mello Lads, but that's from a Sonia Pottinger or Duke Reid session.

Just for the record

'Work It Up' - Jack & The Bean Stalks was pressed up on Coxsone (JA) as 'Work It Up' (Scorcher) - matrix C DOD WORK IT UP. It was hidden away on the B side to Alton Ellis' 'Tumbling Tears'

The Gladiators

There's also a Gladiators tune called "Chatty Chatty Mouth", but I'm pretty sure they didn't record that one in their Studio One days...

it could be....Ethiopians - Leave My Business Alone ... my copy has same `Chatty Chatty` hand written on label and `C. Dod Chatty Chatty` on run out groove, same lyric as tim p quotes....and is backed with `Jackie Mittoo - Mule Jerk` (FCD 7947)....came as a blank, info sourced from RKR.

From 'Coxsone's Music' book, and released on 7" Studio 1

(A) - Leave My Business - The Ethiopians CS DODD 139
(B) - Pupa Lick - Soul Vendors TS DODD 191

This info is probably more confusing than helpful.

Leave My Business Alone is a different tune and unlikely to be the one. Though coincidentaly the first line of the lyric is the same (except there is no mention of Chatty Chatty). The tune with Chatty Chatty on the matrix is the Jackie Bernard/Kingstonians one.

To clear up any confusion here is Chatty Chatty (Jailbreakers/Kingstonians) and Mule Jerk (Jackie Mittoo):

Leave My Business Alone - Ethiopians is an earlier tune from '67 and has a Mento feel to it.

well, don`t know if my record has been mis-identified then, the song lyric goes "leave my business alone and tend to your own, you chat here, you chat there, you chat almost everywhere"...with the `chatty chatty` part sung as backing....tune`s an uptempo-ish chugger that starts with a guitar played melody....as it happens i can`t hear it as an Ethiopians tune, but i`ve never really made myself that familiar with `em anyway !....

I think that must by the Jailbreakers/Kingstonians tune. This is the Ethiopians one: http://www.dancecrasher.co.uk/temp/leavemybusiness.mp3
