Jackie Edwards - cdr comp of UK Island sounds (The Soul Years '65-'69) - truly the stuff of legend - "keep on running", "come on home", "put your tears away", "girl you'll be woman soon", "i feel so bad" etc....

Now how come these classy soul workouts don't score a reissue?? :D

Sure have Baldy mate, it's on the 9CD Stax/Volt Singles box set.

I'm currently playing Nimrod by The Skatalites.

Lol! Thought you might have it Gordon.

Got to get you down to spin some tunes at 'Mash it Up!'' in the new year. I will browbeat the rest of the MIU! crew into submission if I have to.

Jay-B, because it's owned by Island. They seemingly don't care about their back catalogue of great Jamaican and American sounds from the 60s.

In fact it's taken Ace records to put out the Sue label stuff again.

At the moment I'm going through another heavy Stax period. Current faves: Mavis Staples: I've learned to do without you & Little Milton's rendition of That's how strong my love is (with rap a 10 minutes soulful tune extraordinaire!)
