Rastafari Syndicate- King Step Roots Showcase

Postby Dubba » Sun Oct 07, 2018 2:13 pm

Just seen this release on the Hornin Sounds label at Honest Jon’s and based on the sound clips think i’ll be purchasing. Can anybody on here provide any more information on this?

Very cool release. A friend made me aware of it last week. Basically dubplates that made rounds on UK sounds such as Wassifa (and others but don't remember which).

Releases like these are so awesome. Big up to the label.

From Hornin' Sounds Bandcamp page:

"After years of works, we are proud to present & share with you this release straight out from the vaults.
Talking about earthquake Dubplate style !

From the late 70’s to the mid- 80’s the untold history began. Too much decades behind a humble silence but now, here is the story that comes from the heart of the Birmingham’s roots scene.
Some of those tracks have been played by most of the best in the U.K. back in the days. Sound systems like Siffa, Wassifa, Orthodox 38...

« That’s the real stepper, Heavy Dub style.
No skapa-skapa business, Serious business ! »

This Album is dedicated to all the people involved in the history of Sound Systems around the world for more than 40 years.

From the builders to the security guards, every body nuff respect !

Crucial release for sure. Very much looking forward to my copy arriving.

I always knew the band as Breadback though, so a bit confused by the Rastafari Syndicate moniker. Sure this is down to the vagaries of Dub Plate Biz!

More history on this band much appreciated though.

This one was pretty expensive but the samples sounded so good I couldn't resist. Grabbed this along with the Norris Reid double lp from Juno. thanks for the heads up on this one.

These sound like actual dubplates, as in dub versions and mixes galore, rather than the typical screaming a sounds name over generic riddims like so much of that is today. Really looking forward to controlling this one.

No one mentioned the "vol 1" part. That often implies something...so keep your eyes open, there might be a follow up.

Good spot JB! Here’s hoping there’s a Volume 2.
