Johnny Clarke Don't Trouble Trouble LP

Postby bluejam62 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 12:21 am

Hi, I've just bought the Johnny Clarke compilation 'Don't Trouble Trouble' on CD and am dismayed to find that it's been mastered too slow. Johnny sounds rather more manly! So I'm thinking of buying the vinyl LP instead. Does anyone know if that sounds okay? Or what are the chances it will have the same problem as the CD do you think?

Thanks in advance.

I have it on both CD and LP, I can have a listen later, if no-one else does it before me. I have mostly played the LP, and don't remember it as being too slow. The CD came out several years after the LP, so they could be differently mastered.

LP has always sounded fine to me.

Don’t forget the “Johnny in the Echo Chamber” dubwise LP while you’re at it.

I finally got around to comparing, and the CD does indeed run slow compared to the LP. I guess I never played the CD much since I hadn't noticed...

I also compared Johnny In The Echo Chamber while I was at it, and that one is at pretty much the exact same speed on both CD and LP. The pitch on the Dub CD/LP also seems to match the Vocal LP, these seem correct. So apparently something went wrong when mastering the Vocal set for CD...
