Bob Marley Playing Football in the NZ Sun

Here's a link to a profile of a NZ/UK music reporter called Dylan Taite. Despite being an Everton FC fan, he was not too bad a bloke and was a ubiquitous figure of my childhood and adolescence .

Growing up in NZ he was the premier (only?) music reporter on local (state-run) TV and in Feb 1979 he was smart enough to take a football and boots with him when he went to BMW's press conference prior to their Western Springs (Auckland) gig.

Some superb photos there - scroll to the end of the article.

If you have seen any BM documentaries you will have seen 1. excerpts from his interview w Dylan - he is seen on his hotel room balcony, during the day in Parnell Auckland with yachts and whatnot in the background and 2. brief coverage of the concert which, as I understand it, was one of the very largest crowds BMW played before ever, also in daylight - you can see a (Maori) Black Power flag in the audience.

Alas, I was a dumb 13 yo in Wellington at the time, but I certainly remember the stopover. Big news, mate.
