Halloween Tunes ?

Postby ganjalion » Thu Oct 26, 2017 7:57 pm

Greetings! DJing a Halloween deal this weekend and was looking for some Halloween type tunes. Ran a search and found some recommendations from like 2009. Anything you guys can think of? I’m trying to keep it dubby for the warm-up session before going into some more people friendly tunes.

Many thanks

Half of the Upsetters catalogue would fit the bill! Otherwise, Mr. Brown by The Wailers and Vampire by Peter Tosh are two obvious favourites.

Blackboard jungle dub almost has a spooky feel to it

Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires:

"Voodoo Curse" – 3:48
"Dance of the Vampires" – 3:26
"Blood On His Lips" – 3:00
"Cry of the Werewolf" – 4:25
"The Mummy's Shroud" – 4:25
"The Corpse Rises" – 3:27
"Night of the Living Dead" – 4:14
"Your Teeth In My Neck" – 4:38
"Plague of Zombies" – 2:49
"Ghost of Frankenstein" – 3:24

Joe Gibbs- ghost capturer dub

i know compiling these sorts of lists can be fun, but really, unless everyone at the party is a complete reggae junkie, most of the tunes listed will go over everyone's head; no one will really notice as they're paying less attention to the lyrics and more attention to their friends conversations.
maybe the way to go would be to play some spacey dub and mix in some wolf howls, screams, creaky door sounds and such from a sound effects LP.

but then, there is always this beauty the older folks will recognize...when i would play this on my late night radio show it always got phone calls.

A lot of these worked for early warm-up tunes. I stuck to mainly a Prince Fatty/Scientist/Hollie Cook type vibe with some effects thrown in similar to what was suggested above. Many thanks ya'll!
