British Reggae groups
Still like 2-3 Aswad albums (Not Satisfied, Showcase, New Chapter and Dub) and 1-2 Steel Pulse (Handsworth Revolution, which I never ever listen to, True Democracy, which I hardly ever listen to, although it's a mighty album)

Any artists you really used to be into but you can't think why now? Shabba from the 80s / 90s sounds really dated to me now and his voice grates on my soul.

When I got into reggae I was listening a lot to Eek-A-Mouses Black Cowboy album. Also some Swedish reggae. Not listening as much to it now.

Some times I feel it's difficult to differentiate between if I think it's not as good any longer or if I've just listened too much to it. There are one or two Twinkle Brothers albums from quite early in their career that I used to love, today I can barely play through the full sets (even though I understand from an intellectual point of view that the music is really really good).

Yeah, Eek-A-Mouse is definitely an artist I can't listen to now, with the exception of very few tunes, like the ones he did under his real name in the 70s, and "Tell Them" on the Black & White label.
Most of his output I feel is too gimmicky.
But he is immensly popular, and I think his music is a very good way into reggae.
Many people who don't really listen to reggae still like Eek-A-Mouse when they hear him.

It's only Noah's Ark by Eek a Mouse that I listen to now. His made up words sound like someone speaking in tongues at my local Pentecostal Church.

Beenie Man is another one I can't take now when I loved his stuff in the past. "Oh na na na na na na".

In 2002 I bought The Biggest Dancehall Anthems 79-82 on Greensleeves. Two discs full of classics from that era that I loved. Now there are too much DJ songs for my ears. Especially Toyan, his toasting is agressive !

I once bought a Snagga Puss cassette. At the time I thought his style was clever - So embarrassing!

Anything I bought in Jamaica was pretty much the DJ of the moment, the riddim of the moment. 99% of that was terrible and weighted down my luggage, took valuable space in my home and never got listened to because once back home, whatever was hot back in JA sounds horrible.

Anything that was hot in Jamaica is horrible?
May I ask then - what isn't/wasn't horrible, in your opinion?

Tastes change though. Been listening to Jamaican music and its derivatives for about 25 years now, almost 20 years of that exclusively reggae music. During that time I have enjoyed stuff I couldn't listen to now but, who knows, I may love again in the future.
