Nyabinghi songs

Postby maarten820 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 9:19 am

I want to make a list with nyabinghi songs.
Some of my favorites;
Bob Marley - Rastaman Chant
Culture - Jah Pretty Face (nyabinghi mix)
Matthew Mcanuff - Be Careful
Incient Angel - Free From Sorrow
Stephen Marley - Made in Africa (nyabinghi version)

Who can help me fulfill this list

The Trojan box set is probably a good starting point, then anything with Count Ossie's name on it.

Does hand drumming on secular songs count?

Well, just check all the tunes on the Burning Bush / Fire Pon Rome riddim (Star Trail) and the Kette Drum (Digital B). There were quite a few similar riddims in the 90's - and some later on, before 2005, if i'm correct. If that's not pure nyabinghi, it's still influenced by it, like Matthew McAnuff's.

There is one on Freddy McGregor's most recent album. It's called One of These days.
