Will be interesting to see how this turns out. Souljazz does a good job releasing S1 stuff although the comps are quite randomly selected, so to read YEP ROC´s ambition to release LPs as they were sparks greater interest in me than upcoming Souljazz comps.

I got the CD. The sound is quite good, I would guess from tape, but I don't have the best ears for that. The liners are a little underwhelming, basically just the text about the album from Rob Chapman's website, which mostly details the differences in the covers.

For long time collectors it's an underwhelming reissue, but welcome, and understandable as to why they picked it to start the series. In the US it retails quite cheaply.

Anybody heard the new Studio One Radio Show LP? Im interested in hearing how it sounds as there´s literally no sound clips available of it on the net. After a long search I´ve finally found the track list at least:

1. SHOW 1 — Sat, July 16, 1977 — (Sounds Of Young Jamaica)
California Dreaming – Winston Francis
Great GuGu Muga – The Boss
Oh Me Oh My – Jerry Jones
Game Of Love – Brentford All Stars
Be A Man – The Heptones
Get Ourselves Together – Winston & Jerry
Less Problem – Ernest Ranglin & the Sound Dimension
Got To Be Sure – Horace Andy
Is It Because I’m Black – Lloyd Williams
Free – Burning Spear

2. SHOW 2 — Sat, May 13, 1978 (Soul Power & Sound)
Peace Treaty – Sugar Minott
Just Another Girl – Ken Boothe
I’ll Be Waitin – Alton Ellis
Home Home – Ken Boothe
Dock Of The Bay – The Heptones
Change Your Ways – Sugar Minott
Love Is All – Carlton & The Shoes
Sincerely Yours – Carlton & The Shoes

that's going to be a challenge. I've had several and some of them had at least 10/12 different pressings and issues during a 30 year period...(with different sleeves, labels tracklists etc)

some of them even came on colored vinyl. orange ,blue, green etc. Whatever was available I guess.

It seems their latest release is a straightforward re-release of a Heartbeat Skatalites compilation (very rare: only 15 copies for sale on discogs starting at €11,10) :? .
So Studioonerecords now re-releasing Heartbeat instead of the other way around. :?

It's quite lazy. I mean it's a great compilation and deserves to be in print, but I had hoped for more interesting things than this from the label. Also if they are going to do 150 releases at this rate they have their work cut out for them for the next 35 years...

It is not a "straightforward re-release" though, it includes "six scare Skatalites tracks not included on the original release", but it still has the same number of tracks as the original Heartbeat release (thirty-two), so six others have been removed. I believe this change is so as to make it have strictly Studio One productions.
